Player Magazine hits the shelves

Gary Player may be closing in on 72, but South Africa’s greatest ever golfer is still as manic as ever, traversing the globe, designing courses, playing in tournaments - and fronting the cover of his new magazine. Player is a glossy quarterly celebrating the vast array of interests the Black Knight embraces, from numerous golf titles, to a host of lifestyle topics…

…and the first edition, launched at the Gary Player Invitational in London in early August, gets the thumbs up from Feverpitcher. Player’s splendid new South African course, Blair Atholl, gets an in-depth review (Feverpitcher played the course with Lucas Radebe and Shaun Bartlett not long ago; quite simply, we’re in awe), as do new Player developments in Morocco, travel in New York, and a 14-kilometre bridge off the coast of North America that might just be one of the most extraordinary pieces of engineering we’ve seen.

Throw in holidaying in Zanzibar, a couple of wine features, and word from Gary himself, plus a couple of novel questions to Elvis impersonator and Gary Player Group CEO Marc Player, and Feverpitcher has a new addition to the coffee table, sitting next to our treasured ‘20 Years of Sports Illustrated Swimwear’. Definitely well worth a read…
