Feverpitcher launches John Terry fund

We’re nothing if not philanthropic at Feverpitcher, and when a cause appears on our horizon, we’re quick to get behind it. From attempts to get the 2012 Potchefstroom Olympic bid off the ground, to facilitating a romantic liaison between Robbie Kempson and Venus Williams, we’ve got an altruistic CV we’re awfully proud of - and one that’s about to get longer.

News reached us this morning that John Terry, the Chelsea and England captain, is going through tough times: after lengthy negotiations with Stamford Bridge management, the star defender has had to agree to a mere £135 000 a week – more than £7-million a year - to keep playing his football for Roman Abramovich’s side. On this morning’s exchange rates, that’s R1 954 925.89 a week. The poor dear.

Getting by on less than R2-million a week won’t be easy, then (the cost of a pint’s gone through the roof in London, and acquiring sports cars and designer jewellery on a weekly basis doesn’t come cheap either), and so Feverpitcher is proud to launch the John Terry Benevolent Fund. We’ll throw in the R43 needed to take the Chelsea man through the R2-million barrier; we’re counting on our loyal readership to take us towards the R3-million a week mark. And with Schabir Shaik managing the fund for us, and Fidentia investing it, we’ll keep the wolves from the Terry door if it’s the last thing we do. Get those credit card numbers rolling in…
