Hunter storms Tour de France

Until this year, it’s been a little like watching Wayne Ferreira at Grand Slams used to be - follow the lone South African as far as he goes, and then watch the big guns wrap up the event. But this year, something’s changed. Whether it’s the honour of being captain, the pride of running a South African team, or simply the unexpected strength of his new team, Robbie Hunter is having a blinder at the Tour de France…

…and is now the first South African with a stage win to his name. Barloworld picked one up earlier this week, Columbian Juan Moricio Soler winning two days ago; number two is all the sweeter, however, for it’s South African victor. It’s been a great start to the Tour de France for Barloworld, and while there’s a long way to go, there’s a new edge to the race for South African fans - watching Hunter and his team charging round Europe has given us a whole new dimension as supporters.

Robbie’s a legend - Team Barloworld is starting to make the bigger teams look a little silly.

Robbie in green by the end of next week?
