Springbok Lobberts in hit and run

Shocking footage just in - captured by the ever-vigilant Touchline photographers on tour with the Springboks in New Zealand - confirms the news that has arrived by telegram from Christchurch: in a cowardly attack on South Africa, the Kiwis attempted to run over Hilton Lobberts using that centuries-old method of surprise attack in New Zealand - the hit and run with a large red tram.

As the picture illustrates, Lobberts was strolling through Christchurch as the tram snuck up on him; several minutes after this photo was taken (it took a while for the tram to catch up - not the swiftest of vehicles), the tram apparently clattered into Lobberts. It was a cruel and spineless attack, but thankfully the big Bulls flanker is okay; the tram, however, is a complete write-off, a smouldering wreck of twisted metal following the collision. That’ll teach ‘em to mess with the Springboks…
