Deep breath: The Tongue is back

Hands freed from straight-jacket tackles. Outrageous dummies en route to brazen line break. Pass left while looking right, and with no one seemingly to offload to. The Bob Skinstad trademarks were numerous during his golden reign, but the one sight above all others that showed Skinstad was on fire, was South Africa’s most well-known tongue.

It’s a tongue that spawned a television advert, plenty of derision, and copycat moves from young Skinstad fans across the country… and it’s one that, Feverpitcher is happy to report, is back in action. The crack photography team at Touchline Photo following the Boks around Australia has been hard at work, and earlier today caught the shot that South Africa has been waiting for: the Bob Skinstad tongue. Yes, people, it’s back - and the country will sleep easier tonight as a result. Bring on the Wallabies.
