Feverpitcher pin-ups: Lurker Fleming

A few weeks back, Feverpitcher brought you a mouthwatering shot of a shirtless Guthro Steenkamp, hair tumbling off shoulders amidst a sprinkling of tattoos in what was a shameless attempt to win over our female readers. And now, equally shamelessly, we bring you another sports superstar who’ll be causing a few fevered brows with this particular shot: Mighty Dodo and surfer Lurker Fleming.

Until last year, Fleming was the rock upon which celebrity hockey side The Mighty Dodos (official media partner: Feverpitcher) built its defence, Fleming an oasis of unflustered calm in the cauldron of the Dodos’ D. But this year, Fleming finds himself in an entirely new arena, as part of the African Surfer expedition to take on waves up and down the west coast of Africa. Which is how we came upon this particular picture…

Whether it’s the emaciated figure (suggesting the fish he’s holding is on the verge of becoming a very crude interpretation of sushi), the Texas Unibomber beard, or the wild Rasputin eyes, there’s a wild animal magnetism to Lurker Fleming that’s impossible to deny. Right now he’s somewhere in Gabon, riding waves and taming West African jungle; we’d like to think we’ll have him back in Cape Town sooner or later.
