Dan, Pocket and Snoopy go shopping
The lunch was a mixed bag, to be honest (canneloni not terribly memorable, lemon souffle quite splendid), but the company was unequivocally stellar: former Bok scrumhalf Neil de Kock, now starring for Saracens on a weekly basis; ‘Pocket Rocket’ Brent Russell (whose website is well worth a visit); Bok prop turned shark diving magnate Robbie Kempson; prop forward Snoopy Knoop - most famous for a brief romantic liaison with the large lady who used to sell boerewors rolls outside of Green Man - who’s just signed for Leinster; and Feverpitcher editor and Mighty Dodos skipper Dan Nicholl…
…all of whom had great fun perusing the luxury cars on show next to The Showroom, and Bloomsbury Investment Cars. Special K was rather taken with the Rolls (he already has a Jaguar), Snoopy liked the look of the Baby Hummer, and Niles looked happy to settle for a yellow Diablo; Dan and the Pocket, however, decided the orange Lamborghini was the way to go. R5-million price tag notwithstanding.
And so we’ve decided to chip and take joint custody of the car; a little fundraising still required, granted, but we’re less than R4.9-million short at the moment. And once we’ve had a cake sale at Pocket’s house next weekend, auctioned off Ross Skeate and Rob Linde on a double date (great value for money, ladies - trust us), and spoken nicely to a couple of bank managers, we’ll be business. Keep those roads clear, Cape Town.
