Feeeeeeesh still a big hit

It’s a distinctly South African cry, and one that send a shiver down the spine no matter how many times you heard it: the crowd baying ‘Feeeeeeesh…’ as one every time Mark Fish touched the ball. It crept back into the game this year, Fish joining up with Jomo Cosmos after tiring of sitting at home looking after garden and doing the dishes; and at Pinnacle Point over the weekend, there was a smaller but no less passionate version on show.

Fish was playing at the Pilsner Urquell SuperSport Shoot-out, bringing sportsmen, businessmen and politicians together for plenty of beer, and a little golf. Fish was a star attraction in 2006, and judging by the picture, an even bigger one this year, plenty of groupies awaiting his arrival at Pinnacle Point. Professional footballers and groupies? Feverpitcher didn’t say anything…
