Bulls learn the art of travelling

There was a time not terribly long ago (last season) when an away game for the Bulls would spark a couple of days’ depression across Pretoria. Impregnable at home, the Bulls were Samson with a crew cut when on the road - until now. Last weekend it was an historic triumph over the Brumbies in Canberra; a week later, and another Australian side has felt the newfound travelling menace that is the Bulls.

The win over the Waratahs has propelled the Bulls into third place on the Super 14 table, behind the Blues, and the unbeaten Sharks (who have a game in hand), following Dick Muir’s revenge victory over Rassie Ersamus in Bloemfontein on Saturday. It’s the Bulls who caught the eye over the weekend, though, and with Fourie du Preez in irresistible form, and Bryan Habana back to something approaching his best, South Africa’s push for two teams in the semifinals looks well on track.
