Makhaya Ntini’s greatest fear

Feverpitcher just got off the phone to Makhaya Ntini, which is always entertaining: plenty of novel sound effects, some astute cricketing observations, and in this case, the revelation as to what’s really troubling South Africa’s fast bowling spearhead in 2007 - Rowan Atkinson.

Ntini’s all-time favourite film is Atkinson’s ‘Mr. Bean’, the full length feature drawn from his bumbling comic creation. A sequel is due out in 2007, and Ntini’s concern is simple: “I just hope it’s not like ‘Johnny English’”. ‘Johnny English’ being Atkinson’s James Bond spoof vehicle that bombed horribly - to Ntini’s grimacing recollection. So as long as the ‘Bean’ sequel is up to scratch, Makhaya will be happy.

Oh, and he won’t mind a World Cup victory either - and given the option, he’d probably take the cricket win over a box office triumph for Atkinson. But only just.
