More money than sense

Do professional footballers earn too much money? Enter Glenn Johnson for the prosecution… The Chelsea and England defender, currently on loan to Portsmouth, was arrested for - wait for it - a toilet seat. The 22-year-old attempted to slip the seat out of B&Q (the home improvement store) in the company of Millwall striker Ben May earlier this week. A security guard spotted them, the police were called, and both men were fined 80 pounds, or well under what they’d earn per hour as top flight footballers. Both players reacted with a fit of the giggles, suggesting this was all rather a lot of fun; not roasting a few fans, perhaps, or running through a few lines in the bathroom of nightclub, but another indication that young footballers with loads of money and not much common sense really aren’t a terribly sensible lot.
