Like, really good, bru
Forget Pierre Spies, or Charl Schwartzel, or AB de Villiers (particularly if he keeps finding the hands of second slip with such unerring accuracy). South Africa’s top young sportsman is undoubtedly Jordy Smith. Jordy who? If you’re not a surfer, then you probably missed out on being super stoked on numerous occasions last year, as Smith’s stock rose quicker than the points totals admiring judges handed out to the young South African. He heads into 2007 as the ASP World Junior Champion, and on a number of occasions last year, he took on some of the bigger names and came out smiling - a third place at J-Bay, a title in California in the open men’s division, and a Rookie of the Year award in Hawaii last month. Which makes him a name to watch in the coming year - Jordy Smith is poised to rule the world’s waves, and do South Africa proud. Which leaves us very stoked, bru - very stoked indeed.
