Six from six

A little belated, but worthy of adulation nonetheless. The IPC World Champs in Durban were dominated by Natalie du Toit; no surprises there. But the extent to which the South African star dominates disabled swimming became apparent when she wrapped up her sixth and final gold medal. The gold was another great effort, and completed a stellar week for Du Toit. But she also managed to finish third in the entire field - a 56-strong field that included 36 male competitors. Which means she beat 34 of those men over the five-kilometre open swim course, arguanly her achievement of the week. Du Toit still competes in able-bodied competition as well - and on the back of the performance in winning gold number six in Durban, why not?
