Cullinan vs Warne revisited

Until India arrived to remind the world that they travel as well as Zimbabwean pinot noir, the definitive rabbit in headlights was Darrell Cullinan every time the plump blonde leggie turned his arm over. But that one-sided battle is quickly being replaced by a new one: Zaheer Khan simply has to pitch one up in the direction of Graeme Smith’s pads, it seems, and the South African captain is on his way. There’s a way to go before it reaches Cullinan-Warne, but to paraphrase the Australian, at the moment Zaheer would probably be quite happy to bowl to Smith for a living.

(We’re still a long way from Smith’s position being seriously in jeopardy; if the skipper continues to struggle, however, the discussions between Smith and head selector Haroon Lorgat - last seen in furious debate at Newlands over where or not Andre Nel could play - could match Fergie and Beckham.
